Center for Scholar Development

The Center for Scholar Development (CSD) creates educational pathways in an affirming environment for first-generation and income-eligible students from high school through college and in preparation for graduate study. CSD administers four federally funded TRIO programs: Upward Bound, Student Support Services (SSS Regular), Student Support Services–STEM (SSS STEM), and the McNair Scholars Program. CSD is also home to the Preparatory Enrollment Program (PEP), a college transition program that supports first-generation Rhode Island high school graduates. These programs offer academic support, individualized advising, peer mentoring, and leadership opportunities designed to promote college access, persistence, degree completion, and access to graduate school. CSD provides holistic support and programming, including summer bridge programs with coursework and a residential component to support the transition to college.
